Well, that was fun......nerve wracking.....sweaty..... and, for me......physically (and possibly financially) painful!

Everybody ROCKED! Chris, thanks for letting me steal your guitar (I think it was yours??)

I wonder if my "walking malfunction" will make it on the CD?

I haven't signed up for next session (lots of upcoming travels for work), but I'll try to stop by occasionally.

Hi All!

This is a brief introduction to this eights weeks in guitar 4ever. We are going to put on a show, just like Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland! The Show will be presented at the new Elastic Productions space @ 2830 N. Milwaukee. The show will be comprised of our various musical performances. The entire group will perform 3 songs together and the rest of the show will be made up of different combinations of solo’s, duos, trios etc. I will consult with every group and we will have two dress rehearsals….

Hey Everybody!!!

Thanks for a great class!! I am still playing Crudups "That's Alright Mama" for my grade school kids.

So here's a quick overview of our business this week.

Bill's To Do's

1.) Contact the drummer guy.
2.) Update the Blog.
3.) Bring in "Supporting Triad" chord tab.
4.) Make Sure we have a bass amp in the room for Anne.
5.) Vincent Black Lightning TAB for Chris.
6.) Work on "She Caught the Katy" and "Such Great Heights"
7.) Pick 3 songs for the class to perform together.
8.) Book the performance date.

Class Assignments

1.) Have some idea of what piece you want to perform ready by next week. We will discuss it in class.

2.) Work on the "E" and "A" blues walk up the guitar. ( Revisit "Melissa")
3.) Bone up on your understanding of pentatonic scales.
4.) Dust off the other instrument you play and be prepared to volunteer on other peoples song choices.

Epilogue:

Hank-- have safe travels. I will email you the address to the blog.
Susan-- double check your schedule just in case. There may be a chill coming on and I know you have an itchy plane ticket finger for Cali!
Andrew-- Follow up with the voice teacher.
Peter and Dave-- shouldn't we do something together??? The three of us I mean???
Anne and Kristin-- I think I thought I heard you say you were doing something together. Yes? no?
Quintin and Steph-- are you guys solid??

Otherwise, we're digging into history which only some of the class is familiar with. This is also true of Overkill, but its pretty fresh to a decent number of us since we played it incessantly last session. Actually, I'm not even sure our newest classmates have seen the music for Overkill.

Word on the Street is...

That we're playing a gig at Tar Bar tomorrow night. We will start at 10:30. Bill just emailed me. That's all I know.

I'm not sure how long we're supposed to play but I'm guessing longer than 2 songs. So what songs should we plan on playing? Here's my guess:

Overkill
MJ's Last Dance
Iris
For Nancy? (we would need to get good at it really quick tomorrow in class)
Trouble? (we haven't played it this session, but it is pretty easy and Chris sings it well)
Question? (again haven't played it this session, but it is straight forward and fun as hell)

I'm comfortable with the first three songs and think we can wing the last three. After that I'm not sure what. The Bill Brickey Experiment doesn't have that long of a set list yet.
